Thanks so much, Paul. You may know that generally, the rule for gig photography is three songs, no flash. Occasionally, in the UK, you're even directed out of the building after the three songs. You're allowed back in, but you've got to leave the camera in the office. Game over. In Poland, though after the 3 songs, photographers can roam the venue shooting from anywhere but the pit. Some even take a step to get above the audience. As an ex-musician, record label owner, and forever music fan and 5'7" gig-goer, I find that incredibly obnoxious. As photographers, we didn't pay for the show, yet some of us find it acceptable to stand up on a step in front of those who did. I dunno... I don't like it. Thankfully none of my gig photography pals do that as far as I know. Anyway, I say all of this because, I love that third shot too. It's rare for me to make one like that, however, I went out into the crowd after the 3 songs, right to the back where I wasn't inconveniencing anyone and I saw that lighting. Happy with it. I'm happy you like it. :)
Thanks so much, Wesley. It's been a good few months out of the saddle, gig-wise, so it was good to get back to it. Approvals-permitting: I've a bunch in my calendar before the end of the year. Cheers!
Thanks so much. I'm glad you liked them. I'm glad I caught the movement, as it wasn't a particularly kinetic performance, but those are always the best photos, I think.
Thanks, Andrew. <3 I'm really happy you like it. I guess it comes from my style of street photography in the gig photography space. It's surprising how few other gig photographers take a moment to turn around.
Thanks Bryan. Yeah, the audience was generally enthralled. It was lovely to turn around and photograph them. As a music obsessive, I see a lot of myself in those kids - back in the days I was taken along to Wembley Arena to see the Beach Boys, for instance. To be honest, I see a lot of myself now, in their faces. :)
Thanks so much, Shital. I'm really happy you like the photo. It was one of my favourites too. When I saw the kids watching the band, it was a no-brainer to make the photo. Cheers!
Excellent writing and photography IMHO; the third shot full stage showered with several lights is epic.

Great captures. Love the lighting and the movement of the band and the expressions of the audience.

I agree with Shital. The 'younger fans' photo stopped me in my tracks. The faces are perfectly lit and composed.

Beautiful photos - looks transcendent, from the looks on their faces!

I love “younger fans”photograph. The composition and the contrast of light on the faces is beautiful.
