Thanks for the round-up! Nicely done on the album art - you know, I thought of it as a bit of a shrine, too! I like having the side-by-side of the black and white and color image. I expected to find the black and white more nostalgic, but it's actually the color for me. I think you lose a lot of depth of feeling in black and white - and also that the lighting you chose for the color keep a lot of the nostalgia. Best wishes!
Every now and then I'll miss a comment that comes in and won't respond to it for a bit. Apologies for that! Thanks very much for your kind words on the album art. I'm normally a strict b&w guy, but on this occasion, I agree with you, I think the colour image is much stronger! Cheers!
I just watched the letter reading. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It moved me very much.
And I love your photo. The first thing that to mind was, that it looks like a place where people come to worship. There is so much narrative in this photo. Well done!
You know, that interpretation of the photo had never crossed my mind. That's one of those instances where someone else's interpretation floors me. My intention was to show discarded memories under the oncoming autumn (it's not my most subtle, to be fair), but your thought about it certainly raises some unconscious choices I must have made. That's really cool. Thanks!
As for Capaldi's reading of that letter. It moved me to tears the first time, and this morning it got me very close again. It touched something deep inside me, and after weeks of the situation in the Middle East, it did so again. I hope others take the time to watch it, too.
Hah! 100% it is. Funnily enough, Fraser from Laeto, one of our bands from back in the day, he took up the camera too. He's been doing some really great 'mundane' stuff in the vein of Shore and Eggleston. There must be some unseen thread that links music and photography together. Thanks Wesley - your support means a lot.
I've been seeing a trend of photographers here on Substack who introduce themselves by saying, "I used to be a musician, now I'm a photographer." Or still doing both, either professionally or as an amateur, myself included.
A few people I've come across in addition to you and Wesley are Nick Lewis and
Matthew Poburyny, though feels like there were a couple more than that who I can't recall just now.
Been enjoying your newsletter titles and I see that talent extends to your album titles.
"A promising future behind us", is really great, and a good concept pic to go along. I'd say that one fits in nicely for the "Transition" theme.
I watched that Capaldi letter-reading again this morning just after posting the issue. It had the same effect as it did the first time. It's worth watching for both content and performance.

Great issue Neil! And good to hear of yet another former record label owner (like myself!) gone photographer. The pipeline is real!

Picked full of great words, photos and links - thanks Neil.
Thanks Andrew. ❤️🫡

It's a very moving performance. So many "why's..."
