Hahah! Yes. The best part of that anecdote is that I remember growing up with that Van Halen story and thinking they were dicks for that. Y'know? Making some poor wee runner dig out all the brown m&ms. Then, later, discovering it was rational and even safety-conscious, I thought it was great. As someone who has been shocked by poor musical equipment or bad stage set-up more than once, I get why they wanted such attention to detail, and what an ingenious way to gauge it. :D Nothing, however, beats orange smarties!
