A brief interruption
The second issue of Photos, mostly - this street photography newsletter - will be with you by the 21st December, however, I hope you will indulge me a short intrusion.
Yesterday saw the long-overdue opening of a shop on my website where you can finally buy some photograph prints. There are 4 categories at the moment: People, mostly; Places, mostly; Music, mostly; and on sale until 18th December (when I fly home to Scotland and printing before Christmas will be impossible), Christmas, mostly.
The photographs are printed to order on Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta archival paper with either natural Satin or bright-white Gloss finish. A4 size available only at the moment, but I will look into A3 prints sometime next year.
I hope to avoid such naked commercialism in the future, but as Christmas will be almost upon us by issue 2's publication, there might not be time for printing and shipping of any Christmas gifts you decide to buy for friends, family, or maybe even yourself, if I don’t get this out now.
As part of my wee community on Photos, mostly, you can use the xmasmostly10 coupon code at checkout to get 10% off any print you buy or order you make. Don't say I'm no good to you, eh?
A Bonus Recommendation
Film
This week, the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, in Warsaw is hosting its annual human rights film festival, Watch Docs. My partner, Marta, manages Communications for the festival so I had the pleasure of attending the opening with a screening of Patricio Guzmán's latest film, Mi país imaginario (My Imaginary Country). The film tells the story of social turmoil and unexpected revolution that took place in Chile in 2019 and, to put it mildly, knocked my proverbial socks off.
You can watch many of the festival’s movies online, (English subtitles throughout) though unfortunately this one is only in cinemas. If you can search it out, I can’t recommend it more highly.
And finally
Response to the first issue of Photos, mostly has been fantastic. Thanks for your comments, messages, and shares. I’m trying to reach 100 subscribers before the end of the year (ideally before issue 2) and we’re not far away from that. If you have a friend you think may enjoy this newsletter, please share and encourage them to subscribe.
This newsletter is free to read, however, I've recently left corporate life and returned to school, so if you like what I do, please consider buying me a roll of film. You can do so by clicking here, or by aiming your camera at the QR code below.
I'm partial to some of that Tri-X 400 if you're asking. Thank you!
